The single-stage double-suction centrifugal pump in our unit has deep-groove ball bearings of type 6330 at its outer ends, with these bearings mounted side by side. Previously, it was lubricated with oil; last week the lubricant was changed to grease, specifically butter. After running for a week, the maximum temperature reached 60 degrees. But when I opened the bearing housing today, I found that almost all of the grease had been flung out. Is there any way to solve this problem? The pump speed is not high either, at 970 revolutions per minute.

Hehe, the best way is to change it back. Improvements made on a whim are indeed unreliable.
An open design won’t work; can grease be contained in a very small cavity?
Modify it again by reverting to the original setup, either by adjusting the space in the bearing housing or by using one with a dust cover at one end

As long as it can hold back butter, and the old grease can be expelled, that’s fine
The bearings of a single-stage double-suction centrifugal pump are lubricated with grease. A concave groove is designed at the inner diameter of the bearing cover, and appropriate wool felt is placed in this groove to prevent the lubricant from leaking out; this is indeed a reliable solution. When performing maintenance, we follow the principle of applying as much grease as possible – grease is only considered sufficient if it doesn’t leak out
