Gentlemen, who has requirements regarding the gap in the protective shield? Seeking advice

A friend who works at CNPC’s auxiliary equipment factory said that on site it is required that no finger should be able to fit into any gaps or mesh openings, in order to prevent accidental injuries; I wasn’t able to find out where this requirement comes from
There are no specific requirements; for safety reasons, the gap should be less than the thickness of a finger
Refer to API610-2010, 11th edition, Petroleum_Petrochemical and Natural Gas Industry Centrifugal Pumps, section 7.2.13.a), which specifies several standards. Basically, it needs to be less than 6 mm in size, or about as thick as a little finger
