Could an expert please advise on what causes this phenomenon?
It appears to be a rough surface; it should be a area where no contact or fit is involved, so it shouldn’t be considered a defect. It’s normal. It would be better to look at the structural diagram, as that would provide more clarity
If the damaged area is at the location of the bearing inner ring, it means the bearing has run out of oil, and the damage to the bearing was not detected in time. For repair solutions, if welding is used for patching and deformation or bending cannot be prevented, considering the use of a low current, thin welding wire, staggered weld points, and intervals between repairs can help to minimize shaft deformation. After the patch welding is completed, it can be put back on the lathe and used as before. It’s better to replace it with a new shaft. In terms of responsibility, human errors resulting from poor equipment management in an organization lead to such outcomes, at the cost of equipment damage.
I’ve really never encountered this situation before. Which brand of motor is it?

This is the official sealing position for the front gland of the motor; is it the motor end cover that uses a labyrinth seal?
The surface is relatively uniform; it seems to be electrocorrosion?
