When this barrel pump is operating normally, is it necessary to frequently open the cylinder exhaust valve for venting? Or keep the cylinder exhaust valve slightly open for partial exhaust? Could some experts give me some advice?
There’s no need to keep venting; just fill the pump and vent it before starting!
The answer on the 5th floor is indeed the correct one. There’s definitely no need to keep exhausting air – that would waste so much valuable medium. What the person above said is right; it’s sufficient to just start the pump to exhaust the air. I used to work at the ITT pump factory, where I was responsible for pump production and after-sales maintenance services. As far as I know, for pumps used in processes such as those involving ethylene, propylene, and LNG, American ITT’s Goulds vertical multi-stage cartridge pumps are mostly employed; these pumps can be started by simply venting air from them, and both they and their mechanical seals operate very stably.
