Installation method of the metering pump inlet buffer

I have a question: what is the proper way to install the buffer in the inlet pipeline of a metering pump, and what are the relevant installation parameters? Thank you!
What I’ve seen is that it’s at the outlet, a three-way connection with a buffer installed there.
Generally, an accumulator is installed at the outlet!
Calibration columns are generally installed at the entrance, while buffers seem to be installed in fewer numbers. An accumulator is installed at the outlet
