Running a pump without load can cause significant damage to it; many pumps come with warnings stating that running them without load is strictly prohibited. But I thought running it idly for three or five minutes shouldn’t be a problem. . .
It also depends on the sealing type; those with double-end cooling water are better. Aren’t there rumors in the market that there are pumps capable of running idle for long periods of time?
A regular single-surface pump without external flushing will burn out its seal in just one minute. Personal experience.
It’s obvious from the post author that they work in a manufacturing/processing field; what’s prohibited must be avoided at all costs – don’t even try to operate it without a load!
After idling, the mechanical seal may not leak at that moment, but it severely reduces the lifespan of the seal.
Not a single minute can pass without flushing cooling water.
Banning idling means absolutely banning idling. Thirty to fifty minutes won’t work.
If a mechanical seal is used, then the seal definitely won’t work!
Since it is clearly prohibited to run idle, it’s best to follow the requirements, as those requirements have been verified!
