In version 11 of API610, section 6.1.12 states that the rated flow rate point should fall within the range of 80%-110% of the flow rate at the optimal efficiency point of the impeller provided； However, the optimal efficiency point of the pump provided in 6.1.13 should preferably lie between the rated flow rate and the normal flow rate. Are these two contradictory? If the rated flow rate is 90% of the optimal efficiency point, it meets the requirements of 6.1.12 but does not meet those of 6.1.13.
Firstly, there is no contradiction; what is mentioned here are just recommended values. Take a look at the original English text: 6.1.12 The pump should have an optimal operating range of 70% to 120% of its best efficiency flow rate as specified. The rated flow rate should fall within the range of 80% to 110% of the pump’s best efficiency flow rate as specified. 6.1.13 “The pump’s best efficiency flow rate should ideally be between the rated flow rate and the normal operating point.”"
