Is the leakage of the pump’s mechanical seal related to the pressure and flow rate of the flushing water?
We encountered this issue today during the switchover of the circulating water pump; I won’t go into details about the conditions at the site. The outlet pressure reached 6.5 kilograms, and the current level didn’t exceed the limit, but the mechanical seal was leaking

It depends on whether it is self-flushing or externally flushed. Generally, mechanical seals with a single face are self-flushing, and self-flushing shouldn’t pose any problems. In the case of mechanical seals with two faces, the seal on the side in contact with the medium is flushed by the medium itself, while the seal on the external side is usually cooled using engine oil; if the pressure of the engine oil is too high, it can cause leakage in the seal
If the pressure is too high during self-flushing of the outlet, a throttle orifice plate can be installed on the flushing pipeline

With Plan11’s self-flushing feature, there is no such problem as you mentioned. If it’s the 11 plan and the mechanical seal leaks, it’s likely that the particles in the seal spring have become stuck, causing the seal to fail and leak; With other external flushing schemes such as 54 or 21, it is related to the pressure of the flushing cooling water; if the external pressure is too high, the seal spring cannot expand properly, resulting in leaks through the gaps
