:) I have worked at an import metering pump company for almost 2 years; I’d like to talk about imported pumps and domestic pumps. In terms of quality: At present, the quality of metering pumps varies greatly. foreigners place a high emphasis on quality; even when purchasing raw materials domestically, they look for high-quality ones. It’s a matter of reputation – they prefer to buy in smaller quantities rather than have inferior products. As for domestically produced products, competition drives down their quality in order to keep prices low. As the quality improves, efficiency and lifespan will also increase significantly, but the price will rise a lot.
That makes sense. Therefore, in some very critical areas, when purchasing pumps and valves, it is better to choose those of higher quality. For some less important aspects, it’s possible to save some costs.
Domestic brands are fine, but there are still some speculators who pass off inferior products as good ones; the equipment is of very poor quality. We have some equipment that stops working after being used for a short time, and the manufacturer simply ignores the issue and refuses to refund the remaining money. Some even replace it with a new one right away, not even keeping the old one; you pay the price of one unit but get two. How much profit can they make from that? Can the quality be good? !
I also feel that this is where the conceptual differences are greatest (or most significant): foreign companies focus on quality in order to build strong brands, while most domestic companies prioritize profits first. The gap is mainly reflected in product quality.
In critical applications, if domestic pumps do not have more than a year of successful operational records, it is safer to opt for imported products, as foreign products offer clear advantages in terms of stability, failure rate, and service life. Under normal operating conditions, for products manufactured in domestic or joint-venture factories, there is available performance data to refer to; it is possible to choose those products with better performance, which can also help save a significant amount of investment.

When foreigners start a company, they aim to create a good product, with making money as a secondary goal; in China, however, making money is the top priority, with quality coming second.
Our company has done fairly well in terms of localization, but we pay close attention to evaluating performance under the same working conditions; whenever there is reliable performance data, we give it a try, and almost all such attempts are successful. For some key areas, after technical discussions between the two parties, it was determined that the requirements are fully met; there is reliable performance in similar operating conditions, and numerous experiments have been conducted, with over 90% of them being successful.
