For centrifugal pumps, could the consequence of pressure buildup be that the mechanical seal gets washed out? Will it have an impact on the motor? For winter anti-freezing, if it is set too low, pressure builds up and the noise level becomes extremely high. It’s a waste to turn it up too high!
After the pump is under pressure, the impeller rotates inside the pump casing, generating heat through friction; as a result, the temperature of the fluid continues to rise. When this temperature exceeds the vaporization point, cavitation occurs, which is why the pump has a thermostatically controlled minimum flow rate. The radial force on the centrifugal pump increases as the flow rate per hour rises, and the vibration of the pump increases as well.

Prolonged operation can cause the temperature of the medium inside the pump to rise, even leading to its vaporization, which in turn can result in vibrations, damage to the shaft seal, and damage to the impeller.
When the outlet valve of a centrifugal pump is closed, the pressure buildup does not cause the pressure to increase indefinitely; therefore, the mechanical seal does not get damaged as a result. If the mechanical seal does leak, it is because prolonged operation leads to an increase in the temperature of the fluid inside the pump, which can even result in vaporization. This, in turn, causes vibrations and shaft movement, leading to leakage of the mechanical seal
