For medium-water applications, where both flow rate and head requirements are met, which is better – an IH-type centrifugal pump with stainless steel impellers and casing, or an IHF-type fluorocarbon-lined pump? Which one is also cheaper?
Just plain water that isn’t corrosive to the medium? Why use stainless steel and fluorinated lining pumps? A clean water pump will do.

Based solely on our pump prices, those made with fluorocarbon lining are more expensive than those made of 304 stainless steel, and their price is roughly similar to that of 316 stainless steel. Then the all-plastic structure is cheaper. Then it’s hard to say what the pricing will be for other manufacturers. It’s impossible to explain which one is better; this can only be determined through comparison in certain specific environments with certain media present. For demineralized water, you can use whatever material you prefer – there’s no problem with that; P
Choose IHF; in fact, stainless steel pumps are not cheaper than those lined with fluoropolymer.
For cost savings, choose those with fluorine-coated components; however, avoid models with motors connected directly to them. For greater reliability, CF8 material is an excellent choice (cast 304). It’s not necessary to spend extra money – what matters most is that the product doesn’t break!
Fluorinated lining centrifugal pumps are quite common among chemical process pumps, and their prices are relatively transparent.
