Dear experts, as the title suggests: Our company’s plant consists of a vacuum distillation tower and a primary distillation tower for pretreatment purposes. Originally, it was designed to process crude oil; now, however, it processes residue oil. As we all know, residue oil is dirty and contains many impurities. Consequently, the off-gas at the top of the vacuum distillation tower contains numerous impurities, salt deposits, and a relatively high sulfur content. The Roots vacuum pump set we use (model 300-600-1800) frequently suffers from impurities getting into its rotors; this results in excessive noise and high current consumption. More importantly, this leads to rotor wear, and in some cases, the rotors even get stuck or seize up. As a result, the entire plant operates very unstably. When we contacted the original manufacturer, they advised us to switch to a water-ring pump instead. My question is: Is there any way to treat the medium or modify our existing equipment so that we can avoid having to replace it? Thank you
Try installing a condensation system and a buffer tank at the front end of the vacuum system; it should have some effect
Upgrading the rotor material, adding a buffer tank at the inlet, or installing an additional filtration system would help
Upgrading the rotor material helps against corrosion, but impurities and salt deposits cannot be resolved – the rotor will still get stuck. The problems related to noise and current cannot be fixed either. Thank you
If there are many impurities, a filter must be added! Even when using a liquid ring vacuum pump with an organic solvent as the working fluid, impurities can still cause wear on the blades!
Filters are also available; the medium forms salts as a result of the work done by the pump. . . Pipes and pump chambers are both available
