After the unit has been overhauled or experienced an unplanned extended shutdown, how can the mechanical seals of the pumps be inspected and verified to ensure they are in good condition before restarting operation (including those in high-speed pumps)? Aside from pressure testing the white oil system, this is what needs to be done before any material starts flowing through the pumps. What good methods does everyone have?

What good solution is there? Replace the pump with a leak-free magnetic pump or a canned motor pump
It depends on your company’s overall approach. If reliable long-term operation is to be ensured, it’s necessary to carry out disassembly inspections in advance and replace any worn parts; it’s simply a matter of higher maintenance costs and more work for the maintenance staff. A mere external inspection is probably just a way to meet procedural requirements; without the ability to see through things, it’s meaningless.
Apart from demolition for inspection, there really is no simple way.
Can it be inspected by removing it? How many companies have flat plates for checking the flatness of sealing rings? At most, one can only check the springs and O-rings
It’s impossible to disassemble over 100 pumps; they’ll have to be left there for another half year. Work will resume in the winter in the north, and we won’t have enough strength to handle it
If the rotating and stationary rings cannot be disassembled properly, several more will get damaged, which is not worth it; moreover, if there are many problems with the equipment once it starts operating, that will be troublesome as well
Winter in the north, ugh… I originally wanted to suggest that you try using water to see if it works, sort of like starting the water circulation system, and fixing whichever part is broken.
