A false shaft seal incident that led to a story about the screw compressor unit!

Recently, Gonglenghui received an urgent call from a customer whose shaft seal was severely damaged, resulting in the shutdown of the refrigeration unit. The customer inquired whether they had shaft seals of the York model 534M0163G01 (534C0701H01) available. Upon hearing that such seals were in stock, the customer was visibly relieved and requested that they be shipped on the same day. Gonglenghui responded promptly by dispatching the seals from its warehouse. After the shipment, the customer called again to ask if installation could be carried out at their site; the equipment had stopped operating due to the seal leakage, causing the factory to suffer losses of hundreds of thousands per day. We arrived at the site around 5 a.m. on the second day; after taking a short rest and having some food, the engineers from Gonglenghui went to the factory building to inspect the refrigeration units. After careful examination and disassembly of the relevant components, Gonglenghui identified the following faults: 1. Shaft seal failure – oil leakage from the shaft seal. 2. Damage to the shaft seal friction surface. 3. Abnormal noise from the shaft seal. 4. There are fine impurities inside the shaft seal. After identifying the aforementioned issue, the engineers at Gonglenghui closely examined the condition of the shaft seal; by comparing it with the original factory parts, they determined that the damaged shaft seal was not an original factory part! When the issue was brought to the head of the equipment department, he appeared both surprised and regretful, indicating that there were hidden reasons behind the purchase of that shaft seal. And indeed that was the case; the head had learned from an engineer that cheaper original replacement parts were available, and believing this, he purchased those parts and installed them on the refrigeration unit. As a result, the refrigeration unit failed within less than 24 hours, with the shaft seal suffering severe damage. The “shaft seal” incident was clarified; subsequently, both the director and a certain engineer were given appropriate penalties, and the matter was brought to an end. The aforementioned issue with \"non-original\" shaft seals involves certain merchants and individuals taking advantage of prices far below market rates, and exploiting the fact that customers do not know how to distinguish between genuine and fake parts, in order to persuade them to make purchases; this ultimately leads to failures such as the shutdown of refrigeration units. Therefore, Gonglenghui recommends that the person in charge of the procurement department or the equipment department should choose large platforms that offer after-sales support when purchasing accessories; if the price of a particular accessory is much lower than one-third of the original factory price, caution should be exercised before making such a purchase.
