The Roots vacuum pumps used in VPSA vacuum pressure swing adsorption oxygen generation equipment have the drawback of generating a lot of noise. Are there any better alternatives?
It should be isochoric; the characteristic of rotary vane blowers is a constant volume, as the volume does not change due to changes in pressure.
How can a vacuum be created when the volume remains unchanged?
A Roots blower operates on the same principle as a Roots vacuum pump; what changes when using it is simply the reversal of the inlet and outlet, which transforms it into a Roots vacuum pump.

Rotary vane vacuum pumps are positive displacement vacuum pumps; other types include reciprocating vacuum pumps, vane vacuum pumps, slide valve vacuum pumps, and water ring vacuum pumps. The Roots vacuum pump not only produces a lot of noise and consumes a high amount of oil, but its high failure rate is also a fatal flaw. There is another type, which are jet vacuum pumps; the turbine ejector is an example of this.
Rotary vacuum pumps do not consume oil; only the primary and secondary oil tanks are used for this purpose, as they are used to cool and lubricate the gears. Due to its simple structure, its failure rate is particularly low compared to other vacuum pumps.
