In the previous issue, Jingbo Cloud Commerce discussed external gear pumps. Its \"twin brother\" – the internal gear pump – represents an improvement over certain features of external gear pumps. The internal gear pump operates on the principle of internal gear meshing; the pitch circles of the internal and external gears are placed close to each other, while the other side is separated by a \"crescent-shaped plate\" located on the pump cover. The driving internal gear on the main shaft causes the internal and external gears to rotate in the same direction; at the inlet, the gears separate from each other, creating negative pressure that draws in the liquid. At the outlet, the gears continuously mesh with one another, forcing the liquid out. Due to this unique structure, it is particularly suitable for transporting media with high viscosity, within a viscosity range of 0.2–1,000,000 cp. Between them, one thing that is particularly noteworthy is that external gear pumps can only achieve low pressures, whereas internal gear pumps are capable of achieving medium to low pressures – which is truly a significant advancement. Coupled with advantages such as no oil trapping, smooth operation, high efficiency, low noise, and long service life, they are truly outstanding and deserve great admiration. Upon arriving here, some might ask which of these two \"brothers\" will have a longer lifespan. After all, external gear pumps are not picky about the quality of oil, while internal gear pumps have certain requirements; could this difference affect their lifespan? Actually, this has a lot to do with the way it is used. For example, if you don’t pay attention to maintaining the oil pump, fail to clean off oil stains in a timely manner, or use it improperly, then its lifespan will not be long. On the other hand, if you clean away any dirt promptly and use it correctly, the oil pump’s lifespan will naturally be longer.
