I would appreciate it if experts could help analyze this situation: there are two submersible pumps installed in the reservoir to supply water for construction purposes, and each pump has a check valve at its outlet. Behind the check valve, the outlet pipelines come together; there is an outlet valve in the adjacent shaft (which is usually closed). A few days ago, it was noticed that the outlet pipelines were deformed. I would like to know what caused this. The construction team said it was due to suction-induced flattening, but I still don’t understand it. I hope someone experienced can give me some advice. Thank you! !
How much does it deform, and to what extent? Please mention the pipe diameter and material ?
Can the outlet pipe be deformed by suction? Incredible. The inlet pipe is possible, but how could the outlet get deformed when pumped? Take a look at the previous picture

You are using water containing impurities; as operation time increases, the check valve is unable to return to its original position, causing water to flow back. Since the pipes are sealed at this point, the siphon effect causes the pipes to deform. Next time, add an air inlet device at the pipe outlet; air can be introduced when the pump is stopped, and it will be sealed when the pump is started! It’s easy to explain and easy to solve

My guess is that even with a check valve, either due to leaks inside the check valve or at some point along the pipe, the water in the pipe cannot be retained and flows into the pond. As the amount of water in the pipe decreases, atmospheric pressure pushes the remaining water in, causing a buildup. So, there is no buildup while the pump is in use; it only occurs after the pump is turned off
The check valve leaked, causing the water in the pipe to flow back slowly. Since the shaft was well-sealed, this created a negative pressure in the pipe there, which gradually caused it to collapse
