Selection of sewage pumps for chemical plants: the volumetric flow rate of the sewage and its composition are known; How should I choose a sewage pump? Is there a general idea? Based on what, what conditions are required, and what data needs to be calculated in order to make a selection? Thank you ; Are there any reference examples, standards?

Properties of the medium: name (components and contents), temperature, specific gravity, viscosity, particle content (concentration, size, etc.), vapor pressure, as well as characteristics such as toxicity, flammability, explosiveness, pollution potential, and corrosivity; 2. Process parameters: flow rate, head (exit pressure), inlet pressure, NPSHA of the unit ; 3. Other conditions: installation height, pipe diameter, cooling water supply, operating mode, variations in operating conditions, probability of abnormal occurrences, etc ; 4. Specific requirements: pump nozzle diameter, flange standards, specified materials, pump structure type, specific pump features, maximum motor power, brands of certain components (seals, couplings, motors, etc.), standards applicable to design, manufacturing, testing, etc., safety margin for cavitation head, temperature and pressure tolerance range of the pump, external or installation dimensions of the pump, flushing scheme, requirements related to the pump’s electrical control system, service life, and other specified or preferred requirements. You can leave the rest to the pump manufacturer. If you want to know the steps, details, and calculation methods for pump selection, you can look up relevant materials; however, each case is handled on a case-by-case basis, with many practical considerations that cannot be covered here
You might as well just say what you want to do, if it’s not highly confidential. The solution to the question as titled could probably fill a chapter in a book.
Let the pump manufacturer know how you plan to use this pump; the more detailed your plans, the better.
Select an appropriate sewage pump based on the flow rate of discharge and the height of the lift required. Select the sewage pump appropriately based on the application scenario. For example, when used to transport sewage with a high sediment content, sewage pumps with better wear resistance are selected ; When used for transporting sewage or waste, the maximum particle diameter that can pass through the sewage pump must be taken into consideration ; When transporting corrosive media, it is necessary to consider using pumps that are resistant to corrosion ; When transporting fibrous materials, it is necessary to consider using a sewage pump equipped with a cutting mechanism. Choose a single-phase or three-phase sewage pump depending on the power supply used. The choice between an upper-pump type and a lower-pump type is determined by whether it is necessary to drain the liquid according to the usage requirements. The appropriate pump is selected by taking into comprehensive consideration factors such as the price of sewage pumps, their quality, operating costs, and the ease of installation and maintenance. 6. Under the premise of energy conservation and meeting usage requirements, sewage pumps with higher efficiency should be selected, and the parameters of these pumps should allow them to operate within a range of 0.7 to 1.2 times the rated flow rate. 7 Check that the sewage pump has a reliable grounding system and safety protection devices to ensure its safe operation. 8 When making the selection, it is necessary to check the exterior of the pump: examine whether there is any damage to the sewage pump body and cover, whether the cables are damaged, whether there is corrosion on the pump’s surface, whether the bolts are loose, and whether there are any signs of electrical or hydraulic leakage. It is also advisable to use a megohmmeter to measure the insulation resistance at low temperature; installation standards require that this insulation resistance be above 50 megohms.
