It is an HCl aqueous solution of AlCl3 – aluminum trichloride – that also contains organic wastewater; the pH level is around 1, the transportation temperature is 20 degrees Celsius, and the solution contains solid particles with a maximum particle size of 2 mm, accounting for 1% of the mixture. The mortar pumps currently in use experience frequent wear of their mechanical seals. Environmental regulations are strict, so there is a desire to replace them with pumps that do not have mechanical seals. I wonder if shielded pumps would be a suitable option Or are there any good recommendations from various manufacturers?
What type of mechanical seal is being used now? Is it single-sided?
I’m using the WB2 seal right now, but I don’t want to use seals anymore
There’s leakage from the mechanical seal, and it also has a strong odor; environmental regulations are quite strict in this regard
Shielded pumps may require a mud-isolating type
With particle impurities present in your operating conditions, the WB2 seal will not be suitable; a double-face seal with flushing can be used, and it will not leak. If one insists on using a shielded pump, only the slurry type is an option, and it is also quite expensive.
