China’s first adsorption tower circulation oil pump, with domestic independent intellectual property rights, was successfully tested at Jiujiang Petrochemical recently. It has broken the long-standing foreign monopoly in this field, filled a gap in domestic capabilities, and is of great significance for enhancing **industrial strength. This circulating oil pump is used in the adsorption tower of Jiujiang Petrochemical’s 890,000-ton/year aromatic compounds plant; it must overcome the water hammer effect caused by sudden changes in flow rate during rapid switching between adsorption phases, and it also needs to meet stringent requirements such as high temperatures, large flow rates, and a wide operating range. To address the issues identified during the initial trial operations, Jiujiang Petrochemical worked closely with the manufacturers, maintained close coordination, and collaborated together to find solutions. They closely monitored changes in key parameters, analyzed data in a timely manner, traced issues accurately, and worked together to overcome technical challenges. Ultimately, by continuously optimizing the angle and number of impellers, they effectively eliminated potential problems during operation. During the commissioning process, process, equipment, and safety personnel strictly control key parameters in accordance with procedures, while monitoring in real time critical data such as bearing temperature and rotor operation status. After more than 4 hours of trial operation testing, the pump ran smoothly; some of its performance indicators were superior to those of imported similar equipment, and its mechanical properties fully met the requirements for long-term operation of the system. The successful application of this pump has demonstrated the technical capabilities of domestically produced core mechanical equipment, reduced the risk of dependence on imported key equipment, and laid a solid foundation for its further adoption.
