Can a mechanical seal with a silicon carbide static ring and a tungsten carbide dynamic ring be used together?
This is mainly determined by the medium; for example, if the medium is an alkali (sodium hydroxide), silicon carbide produced by reactive sintering cannot be used. Typical seals use one hard ring paired with one soft ring, such as graphite paired with silicon carbide. For those containing solid particles, hard ring against hard ring is usually used.
