Slurry pump bearing damage

Dear sea friends, I have a slurry pump with a two-stage synchronous speed. It has been in normal use for 1 month since the bearings were last replaced, but now there is again a problem with damaged bearings. However, before the bearing damage issue arose, there was an instance where the outlet valve was not opened during a pump switch-over, causing the pump to operate under pressure; this led to leakage at the packing area, and there was also a loud noise at that time, but the bearings probably were not damaged. After addressing the filler leakage and replacing the belt, it was restarted, but abnormal noises from the bearings occurred. I would like to ask fellow sailors: could it be that bearing damage is caused by leakage from the packing of the slurry pump? Or is it due to impeller dynamic balance or some other reason?
