What is the function of the hole in the lift pump?

Personally, I think it’s used for exhaust. There is a shaft inside this tube, and as the impeller rotates below, pressure and heat are generated; this space is probably used for pressure relief and heat dissipation
There is a leakage hole on the connection pipe; the medium leaks out from the shaft seal through this hole and then flows back into the storage tank； It will not leak outside.
This type of pump does not have a shaft seal. The low-pressure medium delivered is returned to the tank through this hole after lubricating the guide bearings.

The perforated tube in the diagram is a spacing tube; inside it lies a pump shaft, without bearings or seals. This hole is the hole for balancing pressure. It does not involve sealing and lubrication issues. The pump shaft has bearing supports at the upper cover; rolling bearings are commonly used, lubricated with grease. At the lower end, there is a ring in the pump head that serves both as a seal and a support element; it is a vulnerable component that can be easily damaged once vacuum is created. I’m not quite sure what you mean by the hole for balancing pressure? Isn’t this hole the outlet for overflow and the gas phase inside the pump body?
