Regarding the inclination of the inlet pipe of horizontal pumps

Dear sea friends, I have a question I’m not sure about. Regarding the orientation of the inlet pipe for horizontal pumps, some say it’s better to have it inclined downward, while others say it’s better to have it inclined upward. What are everyone’s opinions, and what are the reasons behind them?

Horizontal pumps come in various types, including positive displacement pumps and centrifugal pumps. I’m not sure what it refers to or what its use is. As for the reason, it should be based on the requirements specified in the pump’s installation instructions. For reference.
