A new batch of multi-stage centrifugal pumps was purchased, equipped with balance drums. Tests showed that the temperature rise at the drive end was normal, while the temperature rise at the non-drive end was 20°C higher than that at the drive end. Could it be that the balance drums were not functioning properly, resulting in excessive axial pressure on the non-drive end and thus causing abnormal temperature rises in the bearings?
