A modular mechanical seal consists of a regular mechanical seal, a shaft sleeve, and a sealing gland that are pre-assembled into one unit. Once it is installed on the pump, no adjustments are required (including adjusting the compression of the springs); merely the shaft sleeve and the gland need to be fixed, and then the split-type retaining ring must be removed (as shown in A in Figure 12), after which it can be put into use. It can be seen that the (axial) width of the collar is equal to the compression amount of the spring, and it is possible to determine the value and its changes from the outside. Assembling in advance makes it easier to ensure a properly sealed installation, which can reduce failures caused by poor installation, especially for double-end face seals. Diverse structures: Depending on actual requirements, the structure of modular mechanical seals can take many different forms.
