[Haichuan Industry News] Daquan New Energy launches a 6,000-ton polysilicon expansion project

New Energy, a Chinese polysilicon manufacturer, recently stated that it has put the production equipment for Phase 3A into operation, which will enable the company to increase its polysilicon production capacity by 6,000 tons; as a result, the company’s total annual production capacity will reach 18,000 tons. Daquan New Energy stated that the construction and installation of the long-term 3A-phase production equipment for polysilicon in Xinjiang were completed by the end of 2016, and capacity expansion would be achieved by the end of the first quarter of 2017. During the same period, the company also carried out technical upgrades and process improvements to meet the requirements of high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon wafer production for silicon products of higher purity. Recently, Bernreuter Research, a market research firm specializing in polysilicon, noted that imports of polysilicon into the Chinese market surged between October and November 2016, driven by expectations of fluctuations in the installation of photovoltaic projects in China’s downstream market ahead of changes in feed-in tariff subsidies at the end of June 2017. According to Bernreuter Research, domestic polysilicon production in China increased from 12,600 tons in October 2016 to 18,000 tons by December.
