Since its commissioning, Xintian Coal Chemical has produced a total of 8.53 billion cubic meters of natural gas, with its energy supply capacity continuing to improve – thereby providing strong support for Zhejiang to cope with the peak summer demands and ensure that residents can spend winters in warmth. The Yili Xintian Coal Chemical Industry’s project for producing 2 billion cubic meters of coal-derived natural gas per year is located in the Xintian Coal Chemical Industry Park in Yining City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The project’s designed annual production capacity is 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas, 100,000 tons of heavy aromatics, 84,000 tons of polyhydrocarbons, 31,100 tons of light hydrocarbons, 25,000 tons of polyphenols, and 116,000 tons of ammonium sulfate. The design annual consumption is 4.576 million tons of raw coal, 1.805 million tons of fuel coal, and 11.852 million cubic meters of raw water. The project was constructed through EPC general contracting by China National Chemical Engineering Corporation. The plant covers an area of 2.87 square kilometers, with a total budget of 18.522 billion yuan; the final cost upon completion was 18.029 billion yuan. It is the largest coal-to-natural gas project in the world at present, with the highest output per production line, and it is also a **demonstration project for advanced coal processing during the 12th Five-Year Plan period**.
