Do you know what material this is made of?
Cemented carbide similar to zirconium materials. A manufacturer gave me one when I attended a nuclear industry product exhibition before.
Zirconium materials are not hard at all; they are very soft.
Oh, then I used the wrong analogy. It is a type of cemented carbide.
In all these years of working in this field, it was the only time that care was not taken to prevent damage during the transportation of zirconium materials. Upon arriving at the owner’s construction site, the edges of the zirconium components were covered with dents and cracks. All are sent back to the factory for reprocessing. For the second shipment, it was packed very tightly, with foam padding layered inside and outside the box.
It’s impossible to tell the material; it looks like a cast piece
It is hardly possible to tell the material by sight, but from certain surface processing characteristics, it can be seen that the substrate was first cast and then processed through cutting, turning, milling, drilling, and grinding.
I’ve never seen zirconium material; the soft one I’ve seen is that tantalum material, and the outer tube is also this color. The one in the picture looks like titanium or tantalum.
