The welding of the first national methanol pipeline constructed by the Pipeline Bureau began on July 31. The first long-distance methanol pipeline in the country – the methanol pipeline part of China Coal Energetic Chemicals’ 1 million-ton capacity expansion project – saw welding work commence in Bayintoulegai, Wushen Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia. The project is an EPC turnkey contract and serves as a supporting facility for the technical renovation project of China Coal Ordos Energy Chemical Co., Ltd., which aims to increase methanol production capacity by 1 million tons per year. The total length of the pipeline is approximately 52 kilometers, with a design pressure of 2.5 megapascals; there are 4 valve chambers along the entire pipeline.
The price of methanol continues to fall, dropping from a peak of 3,350 in 2018 to around 2,100 now.
