The past decade has been a period of rapid development for China’s chemical industry, marked by the emergence of many new processes, products, and equipment. There has also been significant progress in China’s chemical processing equipment, which has contributed to the swift advancement of the petrochemical sector. Here, we have compiled some of the achievements and breakthroughs made by Chinese equipment manufacturers in terms of larger-scale production and localization of such equipment. Recently, Hegang Wugang joined forces with a key manufacturing enterprise in the Northeast to win a contract for the production of world-class tonnage EO reactors. The Yulong Island refining and chemical integration project is an **important measure to adjust and optimize the layout of the petrochemical industry, enhance its competitiveness, and promote green development. Its core equipment, the EO reactor, has an inner diameter of over 4 meters and a weight of 1,320 tons, making it one of the heaviest of its kind in the world. As a crucial component in the project for enhancing heat transfer, the EO reactor has a complex structure, large size, and thick tube sheets. The medium involved is prone to stress corrosion, and the materials required for its construction are special; thus, high technical standards are needed and production is difficult. Numerous tests must be conducted repeatedly. Previously, such special materials required for domestic projects had to be imported in most cases.
