There has also been significant progress in China’s chemical processing equipment, which has contributed to the swift advancement of the petrochemical sector. On November 29, at the Wen13 West Gas Storage Facility in the Zhongyuan Oilfield, the RDSE706-3 type natural gas compressor, developed by the Third Machinery Branch of Petrochemical Machinery, was installed and tested on-site, and began operating with gas fed into it. This is another gas storage project for Sanji Branch this year, following the successful delivery and commissioning of the compressors for Shengli Yong 21, Zhongyuan Wei 11, and Qingxi Gas Storage Facility.
The Wen 23 gas storage facility has a total capacity of 10.3 billion cubic meters, with a usable gas volume of 4 billion cubic meters. The scale of gas injection for surface-related operations is 18 million cubic meters per day, while the gas extraction rate is 30 million cubic meters per day. It is the largest natural gas underground storage facility in central and eastern China, boasting the highest usable gas volume and the strongest peak-shaving capacity. It serves both seasonal peak-shaving and emergency reserve functions, playing an important role in ensuring a stable supply of natural gas in North China during emergencies. It also provides gas supply support for the smooth operation of various long-distance pipelines such as the Yuji Pipeline, Zhongkai Pipeline, E’an-Cang Pipeline, the Xinjiang coal-to-gas transmission pipeline link, and the Shandong South Main Line. It plays a significant role in improving air quality, promoting energy structure adjustment, and driving local economic and social development. The Wen23 gas storage project makes use of the already depleted Wen23 gas field. Construction on this project began in May 2016; it has resulted in 3 **technical patents, 10 technical specifications, 6 provincial awards for scientific and technological progress, and 1 ministerial award for high-quality engineering. In July 2019, the first phase was put into trial operation, with a storage capacity of 8.4 billion cubic meters and a working gas volume of 3.2 billion cubic meters. To date, the Wen 23 gas reservoir has seen a total of 8.1 billion cubic meters of gas injected into it, with 2.6 billion cubic meters of gas extracted ； During the period of ensuring a stable supply of natural gas last winter and this spring, the volume of gas extracted reached 1.32 billion cubic meters, with the daily extraction peak exceeding 24 million cubic meters, setting a new historical record.
