CNPC hands over the largest naphtha hydrogenation unit under construction

On May 21, the handover ceremony was held for the 3 million tons per year naphtha hydrogenation unit of Guangdong Petrochemical’s integrated refining and chemical production project. This is the largest naphtha hydrogenation unit currently under construction by CNPC, and it has now entered the preparation phase for operation, becoming the first refining unit of the Guangdong Petrochemical project to be handed over. The 3 million tons per year naphtha hydrogenation unit is the largest of its kind under construction by China National Petroleum Corporation. This unit features a complex manufacturing process; it utilizes the naphtha hydrogenation technology from UOP in the United States along with the HYT-1119 catalyst, following a process flow that involves hydrogenation first, then stripping, and finally distillation. It is reported that since the construction of the facility began on June 18, 2020, Guangdong Petrochemical Company and Huanyu Company overcame various challenges such as complex process routes, numerous large-scale lifting and concurrent construction tasks, a long construction period, and a large volume of work, ultimately completing the project successfully.
