On the morning of January 1, 2023, the hydrogen production and ammonia synthesis units of the second-phase caprolactam (CPL) project of Fujian Yongrong Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as “Yongrong Technology”) were successfully handed over, marking the full transition of this project from the construction phase to the handover phase. The hydrogen production and ammonia synthesis plants are the projects with the largest investment amount and longest construction period in the CPL Phase II project. The facility utilizes the HT-L pressurized coal gasification technology developed independently in China; it is environmentally friendly, economical, and reliable. Once operational, it will produce 300,000 tons of synthetic ammonia and 320 million standard cubic meters of hydrogen per year. Construction of the facility began on March 15, 2021. At present, the hydrogen production and ammonia synthesis units of Yongrong Technology’s CPL Phase II project, as well as the hydrogen peroxide production unit, have been successfully handed over; the remaining units of the project will also be completed and handed over one after another by mid-January. Next, Yongrong Technology will go all out to carry out all the tasks related to the commissioning of Phase 2 of the CPL project, with the aim of achieving the trial production goal for this phase as soon as possible. The main production units of the second phase of Fujian Yongrong Technology’s caprolactam project include two sets of 200,000 tons/year olefin-based **units, as well as two sets of 200,000 tons/year caprolactam units ; The supporting production facilities include one set of coal-to-hydrogen plant with a capacity of 40,000 m3/h and a coal-to-ammonia complex with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons, two sets of hydrogen peroxide plants (35%) with an annual capacity of 200,000 tons each, and one set of sulfuric acid plant with an annual capacity of 500,000 tons. The project is located in the Shimen’ao Industrial Park in Putian City, Fujian Province. Its main product is caprolactam, while the by-products include sulfuric acid and others. The completion of this project is of great significance for increasing China’s self-sufficiency in caprolactam, reducing imports, and raising the technical level and international competitiveness of China’s caprolactam industry.
