【HaiChuan Chemical Project Updates】Dushanzi Petrochemical plans to build a second-phase ethylene plant with an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons in Korla, Tarim
Thread Content
Recently, the first public announcement regarding the environmental impact assessment for the second phase of Tarim’s 1.2 million tons per year ethylene production project at Dushanzi Petrochemical Company was released. Project Name: Tarim 1.2 million tons/year Phase II Ethylene Project of Dushanzi Petrochemical CompanyProject Owner: Dushanzi Petrochemical Branch of China National Petroleum Corporation
Project Type: New construction
Project Location: Petroleum and Petrochemical Industrial Park, Shangku Comprehensive Industrial Park, Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang
Scale of Construction: Construction of a new 1.2 million tons/year ethylene plant along with downstream facilities, including 2 sets of plants for producing 450,000 tons/year of high-density polyethylene, 300,000 tons/year of low-density polyethylene, and 450,000 tons/year of polypropylene; 3 sets of plants for producing 50,000 tons/year of styrene-butadiene rubber; 120,000 tons/year of butadiene extraction capacity; 80,000/40,000 tons/year of MTBE/butene-1 production capacity; 350,000 tons/year of hydroprocessed naphtha capacity; and 250,000 tons/year of aromatic extraction capacity. Additionally, there will be supporting utility systems and auxiliary facilities. The Tarim Oil Field possesses abundant and stable resources of ethane, LPG, and light hydrocarbons. The construction of this ethylene project enables the on-site processing of resources such as ethane, LPG, and light hydrocarbons, featuring large scale, short processes, low investment, rapid construction periods, and high returns. Upon completion, it will enable the creation of one of the largest production bases in China for manufacturing ethylene from C2 and light feedstocks, in conjunction with existing ethane-to-ethylene projects. This aligns with the strategic goal of making efficient use of local resources and ensuring a steady supply of light hydrocarbons from oil fields, thereby enhancing the value chain of natural gas and promoting the high-quality development of PetroChina’s refining and chemical processing operations.
