According to reports from January 2024, this project marks the beginning of its trial production phase. This project was developed jointly by Tianjin Cement Research Institute and Shanghai Kaisheng Energy Saving, with investment and construction carried out by Qingzhou Zhonglian. It is the largest project of its kind in the global cement industry in terms of full-oxygen combustion coupled with carbon capture technology; it is the first such project in Shandong Province, as well as the first carbon capture and utilization project within the cement division of China National Building Materials Group. It has been included in the first batch of key scientific and technological projects in the national building materials industry under the “Challenge-Based Research” program. Next, Qingzhou Zhonglian will work together with Tianjin Cement Research Institute and the Shanghai Kaisheng Energy Saving Project Team to complete the production testing and performance evaluation of the demonstration project on schedule, in line with the objectives set out in the contract. Efforts will be made to turn this demonstration project into a benchmark project that leads the world in terms of technical standards for full-oxygen combustion combined with low-energy carbon capture technology.
