Recently, the New Plastic Coal Chemicals 2×1 million tons coal-to-olefins project issued a tender notice for the feasibility study report. The project is located in the Wucaiwan Industrial Park, Jimusaer County, Changji Prefecture, Xinjiang. Meanwhile, in the same industrial park, the Xinjiang Dongming Plastics project, which has an annual production capacity of 800,000 tons of coal-based olefins, is under active construction. For the Dongming Plastics project, the comprehensive office building and the fire station have already been constructed, while work is in full swing on the air separation and synthesis units as well as the gasification unit area. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. This enterprise established itself in Zhundong as early as 2011, with a long-term plan to invest a total of 50 billion yuan in order to create a circular economy park that integrates coal chemical processing, coal power generation, and the comprehensive utilization of coal ash. Once the first phase of the project with a capacity of 800,000 tons is put into operation, it will be able to produce 389,000 tons of polyethylene and 428,800 tons of polypropylene per year. These products are the basic raw materials for plastic pipes, agricultural plastic films, and packaging materials, and are closely related to people’s daily lives. The strength of this project lies in the Dongxiang coal field underground—one of China’s largest integrated coal fields. In the past, coal was mainly exported in its raw form, resulting in low added value ； Today, coal is shifting from a \"fuel\" to a \"raw material,\" and further evolving into high-value \"materials.\" What is even more noteworthy is the performance in terms of green and low-carbon practices. The comprehensive energy consumption per unit of product for this project is 4.43 tons of standard coal per ton of product, which is significantly lower than the **standard of 6.5 ； 13.8 tons of fresh water were used, which is better than the industry standard of 15 tons ； The energy conversion efficiency is 46.67%, which is higher than the **baseline** of 44%. It saves coal and water while offering higher efficiency; this project is creating a green and low-carbon demonstration project for coal chemical processing.
