On February 18, 2025, the second public announcement regarding the environmental impact assessment for Yuncheng Xuyang New Materials Co., Ltd.’s project to produce 200,000 tons of nylon 66 per year was made. Project Overview: Constructor: Yuncheng Xuyang New Materials Co., Ltd. Project Name: Project for the annual production of 200,000 tons of nylon 66 new materials. Location of construction: Yuncheng Chemical Industry Park, Heze City. Nature of construction: New construction. Industry category: C 265 – Synthesis of materials; 2651 – Production of plastic in primary forms and synthetic resins. Total investment in the project: 2,971,660,000 yuan. Scope and scale of construction: The project is located in the Yuncheng Chemical Industry Park, and approval for construction in this park has been obtained. The total land area is 120 mu, with a total construction area of 38,090 square meters. The main constructions include facilities for producing 200,000 tons of nylon 66 and 100,000 tons of 1,6-hexanediamine per year, as well as salt formation workshops and packaging workshops; in addition, there are auxiliary production facilities such as tank areas, power distribution rooms, central control rooms, and cabinet rooms. The main raw materials include caprolactam, liquid ammonia, adipic acid, hydrogen, etc. The main process for nylon 66: continuous polymerization of hexamethylenediamine and adipic acid to produce nylon 66. Upon completion, it will have an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons of nylon 66, 100,000 tons of 1,6-hexanediamine, and ammonia. Yuncheng Xuyang New Materials Co., Ltd., established in 2021 and located in Heze City, Shandong Province, is a company primarily engaged in the manufacturing of chemical raw materials and chemical products. The company’s registered capital is 300 million RMB. Yuncheng Xuyang is an energy and chemical enterprise under the Xuyang Group, specializing in coking, chemical manufacturing, and the production of polymer materials. Located in the Yuncheng Chemical Industry Park in Shandong Province, the company has a registered capital of 1 billion RMB and covers an area of 2,222 mu. It operates facilities with annual capacities of 1.2 million tons of coking, 150,000 tons of synthetic ammonia, 300,000 tons of nitric acid, 100,000 tons of **, 140,000 tons of adipic acid, and 60 tons of CTH catalysts (for pilot-scale use). Additionally, it features the only centralized heating center in the Yuncheng Chemical Industry Park, with a heating capacity of 700 t/h. This enables the creation of a complete industrial chain that uses coal as raw material to produce products such as coke, liquid ammonia, nitric acid, **, and adipic acid. The company mainly deals in products like coke, coal tar, crude benzene, ammonium sulfate, liquid ammonia, and nitric acid. Yuncheng Xuyang seizes the significant opportunities presented by Heze City’s efforts to develop the high-end new materials industry, as well as the support from the State Council for Shandong Province to become a pioneer in green, low-carbon, and high-quality development. Focusing on inherent safety, environmental protection, and quality, the company develops intelligent manufacturing practices and boosts research and innovation. Leveraging Xuyang Group’s advantage of being the world’s second-largest producer of caprolactam, it has assembled a professional R&D team of 188 members to work hard on this goal. As a result, the CTH technology was developed – a new process for producing adipic acid using caprolactam as raw material, thereby breaking the foreign countries’ long-term monopoly over adiponitrile, the key raw material for nylon 66. The company is also planning to build a world-leading integrated project for high-end polyamide (nylon 66) new materials, thus paving the way for a transition from modern green coal coking to high-end new materials production. Its aim is to create a demonstration base for a circular economy worth hundreds of billions of yuan, focusing on high-end new materials and modern green new energy coal chemical industries in Shandong Province.
