On July 14, Suez and its partners officially signed a cooperation agreement with the Chongqing Changshou Economic and Technological Development Zone, with a total investment of around 170 million yuan. The aim is to jointly develop an organic solvent recycling project with an annual processing capacity of 30,000 tons (in the first phase), which will provide solutions for the recycling of hazardous waste for the Changshou Economic and Technological Development Zone and surrounding areas over the next 30 years. 　　It is understood that, in accordance with the cooperation agreement, the three parties will establish a joint venture to invest in the construction and operation of an organic solvent recycling facility, with commissioning scheduled for mid-2027. The first phase of this facility has an annual processing capacity of 30,000 tons, and it will provide professional services for 30 years to enterprises in the industrial park, as well as those in Chongqing and surrounding provinces and cities, that produce and reuse organic solvents in industries such as pharmaceuticals and electronics. At the same time, this project represents an innovative effort by Suez, in collaboration with industrial parks and corporate clients, to promote the recycling of solid waste; it will provide scalable and sustainable solutions for the development of a circular economy and the achievement of carbon neutrality goals. 　　It is said that organic solvents widely used in the pharmaceutical production process become mixed solvents containing impurities after going through the production process. These waste organic solvents are sent to specialized treatment facilities after being recovered, where they are regenerated using various separation and purification techniques to once again meet national standards as well as the purity requirements for use in production. The regenerated organic solvents will be returned to the production lines of industrial enterprises for reuse, and it is expected that this will help customers reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 36,000 tons per year.
