On the morning of October 16, 2025, the Kesheng Technology 350MW tower-type concentrated solar power project held its groundbreaking ceremony in the Wutumeiren Photovoltaic and Concentrated Solar Power Park in Golmud City, Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. This marks the official start of construction of the world’s largest tower-type concentrated solar power project in terms of single-unit size, mirror field reflection area, energy storage capacity, and annual designed power generation output. The total investment in this project is approximately 5.435 billion yuan, and it utilizes the core technology for tower-type molten salt energy storage solar thermal power generation, which was independently developed by Zhejiang Kesheng Technology Co., Ltd. The project adopts a design featuring three towers and one machine, is equipped with a 14-hour molten salt heat storage system, has a total mirror field area of approximately 3.3 million square meters, and is scheduled to be connected to the grid at full capacity by the end of September 2027. The launch of the 350MW concentrated solar power project in Golmud, Qinghai, has achieved breakthroughs both in terms of the capacity of individual units and in terms of energy storage capacity. It now truly possesses the capability to serve as a flexible power source to support the grid connection of larger-scale wind and photovoltaic systems. Upon completion, the project is expected to generate approximately 960 million kWh of clean electricity per year, which is equivalent to saving 263,400 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 720,000 tons.
It is reported that Yibin is actively exploring more new energy technology pathways; several LNG and methanol-fueled bulk carriers have already begun construction, and the industrial framework for green shipping is rapidly taking shape.
