On October 20, the official website of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Ecology and Environment Protection Industry Association published a notice regarding the planned approval process for a project in Shawan City, Xinjiang, carried out by Xinjiang Hydrogen-Based Energy Technology. This project involves the construction of a production line capable of generating 100,000 tons of green hydrogen per year, which in turn will be used to produce 600,000 tons of green ammonia per year. Project name: Xinjiang Hydrogen-Based Energy Technology’s Shawan City project for producing 100,000 tons of green hydrogen per year to yield 600,000 tons of green ammonia per year; Project nature: New construction. Project investment: The total investment for this project (including value-added tax) is 3,589,427,800 yuan ; Construction unit: Xinjiang Hydrogen-based Energy Technology Co., Ltd ; Construction location: Hala Gande Industrial and Mineral Products Processing Park, Shawan City ; Construction content: Build a production line capable of producing 100,000 tons of green hydrogen per year, which in turn will enable the production of 600,000 tons of green ammonia. The total construction area is 91,114.8 m2, and it mainly includes facilities for electrolytic water hydrogen production, warehouses, office spaces, and administrative buildings ; Purchase and install equipment such as electrolytic water hydrogen production units, gas-liquid separation units, purification units, air separation nitrogen production units, and ammonia synthesis units ; Complementary facilities such as tank farms and loading/unloading stations, demineralized water stations, circulating water stations, sewage treatment plants, water supply and drainage systems, roads, paved areas, landscaping, and fire protection systems are also constructed. Land area: The land area is 332,835 m2 (499.125 mu). Construction period: The construction period is 12 months. The main facilities include an electrolytic water hydrogen production plant, an air separation plant, and an ammonia synthesis plant. The hydrogen production facility using electrolyzed water employs an alkaline electrolyzer (ALK) process for hydrogen production; it is equipped with 80 electrolyzers with a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters each, as well as 2 purification units and 2 hydrogen compressors. The annual hydrogen production capacity is 100,000 tons, which is mainly used as a raw material for ammonia synthesis. The air separation plant uses the cryogenic air separation method for nitrogen production; it is equipped with 2 centrifugal air compressors and 2 nitrogen compressors. The plant produces 435,600 kNm3 of nitrogen per year, which is primarily used as a raw material for ammonia synthesis ; Partly used for purging and displacement ; 800,000 tons of liquid oxygen as a by-product. One new set of ammonia synthesis plants is to be built, using the Casari radial process; it will be equipped with 2 syngas compressors and 2 ammonia compressors, capable of producing 600,000 tons of liquid ammonia per year, along with 600,000 tons of steam as a by-product.
