It is understood that the Gansu Ruizhi New Materials project, which aims to produce 400,000 tons of graphite anode materials for lithium batteries per year, has a total investment of 6.6 billion yuan. The production capacity will be 400,000 tons of such materials per year, with completion expected by 2028. This project is in line with Gansu Province’s strategy to advance the traditional petrochemical industry toward new energy and new materials sectors. In accordance with the requirements of policy documents, engineering survey and design firms within the province have accelerated their transformation into technology-based enterprises, providing technical and managerial support for new material projects. Documents such as Document No. 101 issued by the General Office of the State Council emphasize the need to establish \"legal entities and market players that meet the requirements of a market economy.\" This project, which involves the construction of lithium battery material production capacity driven by private capital, is a practical example of achieving this reform goal. Graphitized anode materials, which are a key component in the lithium battery industry chain, constitute the core element of lithium-ion batteries. A production capacity of 400,000 tons is sufficient to meet the manufacturing needs of around 500 GWh of batteries, which is equivalent to providing batteries for 800,000 electric vehicles. The implementation of this synergy project in the new energy sector will enhance Gansu’s competitiveness across the entire value chain ranging from lithium battery materials to battery manufacturing and further to the application of new energy sources, thereby creating a closed loop for clean energy alongside the province’s wind and solar energy industries.
