Chongqing Jianfeng Chemical Starts Construction of 50,000-Ton/Year Dimethyl Carbonate (DMC) Project Author/Source: Coal Chemical Industry Information Network Date: February 24, 2023 Clicks: 26 On February 18, Fuling District held a ceremony to mark the commencement and completion of key projects for the first quarter of 2023. The 50,000-ton/year dimethyl carbonate (DMC) project built by Chongqing Jianfeng Chemical Co., Ltd. commenced construction on that day. The project with an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons of dimethyl carbonate serves as an important stepping stone for Chongqing Jianfeng Chemical Co., Ltd. in its transition toward new chemical materials. It is an important chemical product derived from urea, and it plays a significant role in extending Jianfeng Chemical’s industrial chain as well as enhancing the company’s ability to withstand risks. This project plans to adopt the two-step urea process (also known as the indirect urea method). Using urea and methanol as the main raw materials, and taking advantage of the resources available in the area, a dimethyl carbonate production facility along with the necessary supporting infrastructure will be built next to the Nengtong branch of Chongqing Jianfeng New Materials Co., Ltd. in Zhulinwan, Baitao Sub-district, Fuling District, Chongqing. The total investment for this project is estimated at around 484 million yuan. Chongqing Jianfeng Group: Chongqing Jianfeng Chemical Co., Ltd. is a holding subsidiary of the established chemical enterprise Chongqing Jianfeng Industrial Group Co., Ltd. Chongqing Jianfeng Industrial Group Co., Ltd. uses natural gas as raw material; in 1993 it built a facility capable of producing 300,000 tons of synthetic ammonia and 520,000 tons of urea, thus establishing the first large-scale fertilizer production plant of its kind. In 2012, the second set of large-scale fertilizer production facilities was built, with an annual output of 450,000 tons of synthetic ammonia and 800,000 tons of urea. There are also two sets of plants with an annual production capacity of 30,000 tons of melamine, as well as plants with an annual production capacity of 46,000 tons of poly**furan, etc. Looking ahead to the 14th Five-Year Plan, Jianfeng Group timely proposed three approaches to transformation and upgrading: \"new agriculture, new materials, and new services.\" In the new materials sector, focus is placed on the downstream applications of acetylene and BDO; plans are in place to revitalize MDI, acetylene, and BDO production facilities, while advancing PBAT and PTMEG projects.
