On November 20, Sichuan Aoniu New Materials Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Aoniu New Materials”) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the CPI project at its production facility located in the Jingkai District of Shuangliu, Chengdu, marking the official start of production for this highly anticipated high-performance materials project. As a cutting-edge material in the 21st century characterized by high temperature and weather resistance, CPI (transparent polyimide products) is widely used in applications such as tail lights, new types of display covers, photovoltaic cell substrates, and protective films; its supply has long relied on imports. Since its establishment in 2022, Aonu New Materials has engaged in extensive industry-university-research collaboration with the School of Polymer Science at Sichuan University. By recruiting experts from home and abroad to form a high-quality R&D team and carrying out comprehensive research and development in areas such as formulations, production processes, and application scenarios, the company is gradually growing into one of the manufacturers of transparent polyimide films that aims to reach the world’s highest standards. The company’s main products include transparent polyimide pastes, resins, films, etc., and it has obtained 5 **patents for invention. According to Ling Tao, chairman of Aoniu New Materials, Phase 1 of the project that has now begun operations is planned to have an annual production capacity of 1,730 tons of transparent polyimide slurry and 1 million square meters of transparent polyimide base film. He specifically pointed out that this is the first CPI production line in the country that can truly meet the needs of high-end optoelectronic display applications. “The company has planned a second-phase project, which will double the production value. Aonu New Materials was established in 2022 in Shuangliu District, Chengdu, focusing on the research, development, production, and sales of transparent polyimide (CPI), a key material for flexible LED panels. This material is primarily used in foldable screen covers and glass cover films for foldable screens, and it also holds potential for application in high-end fields such as surface light sources and aerospace. At present, the supply of CPI materials in the global market is dominated by companies from Japan and South Korea, while domestic enterprises are still in the stage of research and development. The mass production of products by Aonu New Materials will effectively fill the gap in the domestic market.
