Construction Details: The production process for this project will be changed from using natural gas to produce synthetic ammonia and urea to using coal instead; no additional production capacity or land will be allocated. (1) Phasing out of equipment and upgrades: Phasing out old ammonia synthesis plants using the gas-head process (including outdated equipment such as zinc oxide desulfurization towers, conversion furnaces in stages one and two, high- and low-temperature shift reactors, thermal potassium-alkali carbon removal systems, absorption towers, regeneration towers, and ammonia synthesis towers), as well as related auxiliary equipment such as pumps and heat exchangers. It has been upgraded to a coal-based ammonia synthesis plant, utilizing China’s advanced 6.5MPa space furnace dry coal powder gasification technology. Key process units such as air separation, coal gasification, purification (including carbon monoxide conversion, acid gas removal, and gas refining), ammonia synthesis (including syngas compression, ammonia production, and refrigeration), and sulfur recovery, along with digitalization-related equipment and facilities, are included in this plant. (II) Upgrade and renovation: The existing urea production plants will be upgraded by making use of existing equipment; this includes replacing CO compressors with centrifugal electric-driven compressors, adopting an improved CO stripping process, adding equipment such as dehydrogenation heat exchangers and dehydrogenation preheaters, converting high-pressure ammonia pumps and high-pressure ammonium methanate pumps from steam-driven to electric-driven types, and installing two new medium-pressure ammonium methanate pumps.
