On January 10, the groundbreaking ceremony was held for Project 1’s rainwater monitoring tank/accident storage tank under the Blue Sea New Materials initiative, marking the official transition of this project from the construction phase to the stage of functional testing and trial operation. This step provides a crucial foundation for subsequent system integration tests and the full operational deployment of the facility. As a core component of the environmental protection system for the Blue Ocean new materials project, the 1# rainwater monitoring tank/accident water tank facility serves functions such as rainwater collection and monitoring, as well as emergency drainage in case of accidents. This pool features a large designed capacity, a complex structure, and high construction difficulties, making it a key milestone in the project construction. To address these challenges, the project innovatively adopted a number of advanced processes and technical methods. For the construction of mass concrete, the team adopted a technique of \"progressing in sections and pouring continuously in layers and segments\", which not only effectively distributed the load on the formwork but also avoided the risk of structural deformation. To address the problem of temperature-induced cracks caused by the accumulation of heat of hydration in mass concrete, the team installed a real-time temperature monitoring system and implemented a triple insulation and moisture retention protection strategy consisting of water retention curing, plastic film, and cotton felt. Ultimately, through close cooperation among all parties, the one-time pouring of the main structure was successfully completed.
