Shandong Tianyi Hongda Biotechnology’s bio-based BDO project will go into operation next year

On March 16, according to Investment Weifang, Shandong Tianyi Hongda Biotechnology Co., Ltd.’s high-end manufacturing project for 35,000 tons per year of bio-based succinic acid and its derivatives, as well as the project for 10,000 tons per year of bio-based 1,4-butanediol, are expected to go into operation in February or March next year. Zhang Shaohua, the chief engineer of the project, said that the project focuses on producing bio-based succinic acid through biological fermentation; this substance is then used as a raw material to synthesize bio-based 1,4-butanediol through key processes such as esterification, hydrogenation, and purification. This compound is precisely the key raw material for producing high-performance biodegradable plastics such as PBAT, PBS, and PBSA.
