In mid-March, China National Petroleum Corporation’s Dushanzi Petrochemical Company held a ceremony to launch a photovoltaic molten salt energy storage demonstration project, marking the full commencement of construction on this key green project. Covering an area of over 6,000 mu, this project is the first key initiative undertaken by Dushanzi Petrochemical in pursuit of its strategy to eliminate coal use, with the aim of helping to achieve the \"dual carbon\" goals. The project adopts a technology approach that combines photovoltaic power generation with molten salt energy storage, creating a complete energy conversion chain of \"green electricity for heating, molten salt for heat storage, and heat release to generate steam.\" This setup replaces coal-fired boilers with clean energy sources, ensuring a stable supply of electricity and steam for downstream production processes, thereby laying a solid foundation for the company’s green and low-carbon development. As a demonstration project of China National Petroleum Corporation featuring \"photovoltaic power + energy storage + steam turbines\", once completed and put into operation, this project will serve as the core backbone for Dushanzi Petrochemical to establish a zero-carbon heating system based on molten salt energy storage, with gas supply serving as a supplementary mechanism. At present, Dushanzi Petrochemical is accelerating the progress of project construction, striving to become a model for the clean replacement of coal-fired boilers. This effort aims to explore new ways for the refining and petrochemical industry to produce industrial steam using green electricity, while also laying a solid foundation for future expansions in molten salt energy storage, the renovation of coal-fired boilers, improving heating capabilities during extreme weather conditions, and ensuring the stable operation of refining and petrochemical facilities.
