The first phase of Wanhua Chemical’s lithium iron phosphate project has been put into operation, with the second phase starting construction

On the morning of March 28, the Wanhua Haiyang Green Power Industrial Park held a ceremony to mark the commissioning of Phase 1 and the start of construction for Phase 2; this major provincial-level project has entered a new phase in which operations commence alongside expansion efforts. According to the information available, the Wanhua Haiyang Green Power Industrial Park is located in Longshan Sub-district, Haiyang City, Yantai, Shandong Province. It covers an area of approximately 1,850 mu, with a planned total investment of 16.8 billion yuan. It has been included in Shandong Province’s key projects for 2025, as well as in the province’s pilot projects for integrated power generation, transmission, distribution, and storage systems, and among the pilot green power industrial parks in the province. It is worth noting that recently, the environmental impact assessments for three lithium iron phosphate production projects owned by Wanhua Chemical were approved, resulting in a total capacity of 1.05 million tons. These projects include the second phase of Wanhua Chemical’s Green Energy Industrial Park, which has an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate, as well as the third phase of the same industrial park, also with an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate. Wanhua Chemical stated that there is strong demand for lithium iron phosphate products at present, and it has established strategic partnerships with leading customers both domestically and internationally. To promote the local consumption of green electricity and address green trade barriers, the project will explore the implementation of green electricity trading and direct connection of green electricity, in order to fully leverage the synergistic effects of the combination of green electricity and new forms of productive capacity. Next, Wanhua Haiyang Green Energy Industrial Park will accelerate the construction of its second phase, with production set to begin by the end of 2026, thereby further strengthening Wanhua Chemical’s leading position in the field of new energy battery materials.
