Review of the process package for Hengyi Energy Technology (Turpan) Co., Ltd.’s coal chemical project in Xinjiang, with a total investment of 25.7 billion yuan. The total investment for this project is 25.702 billion yuan; the investor is Hengyi Energy Technology (Turpan) Co., Ltd. The project involves the construction of a coal chemical facility capable of producing 2.4 million tons of polyester-grade ethylene glycol per year, with by-products including ethanol, dimethyl carbonate, sulfur, liquid ammonia, and nitric acid. The main components of the project include 10 units for gasification, shift reaction, low-temperature methanol washing, sulfur recovery, hydrogen and carbon monoxide separation, dimethyl oxalate production, ethylene glycol production, ammonia synthesis, nitric acid production, and air separation. Additionally, there are supporting facilities for public services, storage and transportation, as well as environmental protection measures. The project covers an area of 253.75 hectares, with 1.55 billion yuan invested in environmental protection measures. The project utilizes Pu Jing Chemical’s complete ethylene glycol process technology and proprietary catalysts, with China Chengda responsible for the engineering design. From March 29 to 30, 2026, the project process package review meeting was successfully held in Shanghai. A review team composed of Hengyi Energy, Pujing Chemical, China Chengda, as well as industry technical experts, conducted a comprehensive review and in-depth discussion of the core elements of the process package, and put forward optimization suggestions. The successful holding of this review meeting has laid a solid foundation for the efficient subsequent construction of the project and for ensuring the device operates in a safe, stable, long-lasting, full-capacity, and high-quality manner. Upon completion, the project will establish a large-scale capacity for producing high-quality ethylene glycol from coal, which is of great significance for promoting the clean and efficient conversion of local coal resources, developing the circular industry of coal-based new materials, and optimizing the regional industrial structure.
